There was a lion in a forest. He was fearless, except that he was scared of the crowing of cocks. A chill would go down his spine whenever he heard a cock crowing. He would shiver with fear. One day he confessed about his fear to the elephant. The elephant was greatly amused. He could not understant how can the great lion be afraid of a little cocks crowing. So he asked,
“How can the crowing of a cock hurt you?” he asked the lion. Just when the lion was about to answer the elephant, a mosquito began circling the elephant’s head. This frightened the elephant out of his wits. He said to the lion,
“If this mosquito gets into my ear then I am dead!” he shrieked, swatting at the insect with his trunk.
Now it was the lion’s turn to feel amused.
Moral: If we could see our fears as others see them we would realise that most of our fears make no sense!
